New Pathways Project’s Recovery Support Services program provides non-clinical services that assist individuals in recovery in gaining the skills and resources needed to initiate\, maintain\, and sustain long-term recovery. The RSS program offers services such as care coordination\, recovery coaching\, group support\, supported employment/training\, transportation\, and assistance with accessing recovery housing. Recovery support services are not a substitute for clinical services. Recovery support programs are person-centered and self-directed\, allowing the individual in recovery the choice of provider. \nThe Peer Recovery Specialist provides recovery-oriented support services to individuals experiencing substance use and/or mental health challenges. Utilizing lived experience\, the Peer Recovery Specialist fosters trust\, promotes empowerment\, provides emotional support and encouragement\, helps individuals build coping skills for maintaining sobriety\, and assists individuals in navigating treatment\, resources\, and community support systems. This role involves collaboration with clinical teams\, if necessary\, advocacy\, and engagement with individuals to support their recovery journey. \nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: \nThe following outlines key responsibilities. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. \n\nProvide peer-based support\, guidance\, and encouragement to individuals in recovery.\nAssist individuals in developing personalized recovery plans.\nServe as a liaison between individuals and service providers\, helping to navigate healthcare and community support systems.\nFacilitate peer support groups\, workshops\, or educational sessions.\nAdvocate for individuals’ rights and needs within treatment and community settings.\nDocument interactions and maintain accurate records in accordance with organizational policies.\nPromote harm reduction strategies and wellness-based approaches.\nSupport crisis intervention efforts and collaborate with crisis teams as needed.\nMaintain confidentiality and uphold ethical peer support principles.\nMaintain flexibility to provide necessary support to individuals after hours\, evenings\, weekends\, and some holidays.\nProvide on-call support to all participants to assist with crisis support.\nBe responsible for meeting with clients regularly\, identifying community linkages to support client recovery efforts\, conducting outreach to clients at treatment facilities in the community\, attending client recovery plan meetings\, and meeting clients at their appointments.\nManage and oversee a caseload of up to 30 individuals at any given time.\nProvide recovery education and coaching. DESCRIPTION:The Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) will work in partnership with healthcare professionals in Philadelphia to engage individuals who may benefit from recovery support services. The CRS will serve as a role model\, mentor\, advocate and motivator to recovering individuals in order to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. The Recovery Specialist must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships and have an understanding of and respect for each individual’s unique path to recovery. \nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: \n\nMust be a Certified Recovery Specialist with at least one year of experience working in behavioral health field.\nPennsylvania Criminal Record Check\, The Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Criminal History Background Check required.\nRecovery Specialist must be in recovery with at least 2 years sustained\, current recovery history.\nPosition is based out of the Philadelphia Recovery Community Center. CRS must use private vehicle\, be able to work independently and collaborate with ROSE hospital staff to meet with participants in the community.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES: \n\nEngage in relationship building and active listening with individuals to establish rapport\, as evidenced by empathetic and active listening\, communicating in a non-judgmental way\, recognizing addictive behavior.\nWork with ROSE hospital staff in emergency or crisis situations; facilitate access to appropriate resources\, negotiating and connecting individuals with resources and navigating the systems.\nConduct self in an ethical manner by adhering to the PCB codes of ethics\, standards of practice\, and Council policy and procedures.\nMaintain valid driver’s license and safe driving record.\n\nDAILY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:\n1. Provide recovery education to service recipients for every phase of the recovery journey from pre-recovery engagement\, recovery initiation\, recovery stabilization\, and sustained recovery maintenance.\n2. Provide peer-based recovery support\, coaching and encouragement to individuals contemplating or actively seeking help with substance use recovery.\n3. Work with ROSE on-site staff to assist with identified emergency or crisis situations and facilitate access to appropriate resources\, negotiating and connecting individuals with resources and navigating the systems.\n4. Collaborate with institutions to provide effective recovery support services to identified individuals.\n5. Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (communities of recovery\, educational\, vocational\, social\, cultural\, spiritual resources\, mutual self- help groups\, professional services\, etc.) that support the recovering person’s goals and interests. This will involve a collaborative effort including the recovering person\, agency staff and other relevant stakeholders.\n6. Assist the individual to identify and prioritize strengths and needs\, using various techniques that engage individuals to self-disclose.\n7. Maintain project logs\, reports and accurate records in appropriate files and database(s)\, adhering to program standards.\n8. Maintain confidentiality regarding information received during the facilitation of recovery support services – maintain current understanding of federal\, state and local confidentiality rules and regulations.\n9. Engage in continuing professional development relative to recovery support services\, applying practical and professional knowledge and experience. Maintain CRS credential.\n10.
