Assessments are designed to assess the need(s) of adolescents and adults, focusing on their alcohol and/or other drug use. The first step in determining what kind of care an individual needs is to perform a bio-psycho-social assessment. This type of assessment considers biological, psychological, and sociological aspects of an individual and based on this assessment an appropriate level of care can be recommended for the client. Assessments may be covered by Magellan Healthchoices.
Determining level of care is the first step in getting someone help.
Please note that the individuals identified below must be offered an assessment and offered an admission for the recommended level of care immediately:
Pregnant injection drug users, Pregnant substance users, Injecting drug users, Overdose survivors and Veterans. Preferential treatment provided for pregnant women.
